PUB PROMOTION
It would be nice to form some sort of publishing outlet or consultancy. We have the ability to design to a very high standard visiting cards, brochures, T-shirts, calendars or anything else and have many promotional ideas. Any small brewers interested?
We also have our own photo library with over 2,000 pictures of pubs, signs, interiors etc. from our own original photos. Plus files on about 8,000 pubs.
At present all our pocket money goes on finding and reaching hidden and historic pubs which means transport. Together with the technology to keep us in the picture. Cameras, printers, computers. So there are no funds. Rather than becoming an expensive hobby we welcome ideas to use this website for promotional material if it meets our approval and helps us to become established.
One idea under contemplation is GOD SAVE OUR LOYAL PUBS.
Drinking in History - the Inns and Outs of Royalty romping through the Reigns.
Did you miss out on History at school? Did all those dates drive you to distraction? Well - here is the easy way to catch up in your own time. Complete with dastardly deeds and on the spot locations.
It is all laid out in the pubs and inns of Britain. Pints and peers. Sitting and supping at the King's Head with innsights and signs as to who drank where, and what the rules were.
You can do all this in comfort with a pint and a pie and a pew in front of a log fire - refinements you won't get in a church, museum or ruined castle.
Crowned heads frequently chose to hold court and quaff in Hostelries. Even in passing there is an inn sign to commemorate almost every royal personage - even those that were not at all popular at the time.
This is a book we are working on at present. Not a heavy historical tour but enjoyable jaunts to whet your appetite. After all it was Kings who made and defined our drinking laws from the time the Romans left.
So far we have only a first rough draught. There is still much to be formulated and discovered.
If you have, or know of pubs with interesting Royal connections and inside information, or unusual Kings or Queens on the signs we would be pleased to hear from you. We already have enough information to fill a small volume, but some pubs are better than others and we prefer pubs that are still flourishing and worth a visit.
Also allied to this project are further titles such as 'PUBS AHOY' covering our Maritime History, and 'A PEN AND A PINT' for Inside Inn Authors.
There is also THE QUAFFERS GLOSSARY, a light hearted but informative guide to tippling terminology with cartoon illustrations. Ideal for Publication.
Any publishers interested in pubs would be welcome to see what we have. An Agent would not come amiss. There must be someone out there who is not called Lucinda or something similar and operates from Bloomsbury.
We cannot be held responsible for any pubs that have gone missing or fallen into the hands of developers. It is up to us British to do our best to save and protect our heritage. Once a pub is sold without a licence a slice of history is totally eradicated. A great number of pubs are Grade II listed, but this cannot always prevent them from falling into the wrong hands. We also feel that a pub that cannot serve one decent draught cask ale is comparable to a stable that can no longer be bothered with keeping a horse.
